The Yale School of Management Christian Fellowship is excited to announce the 2012 Believers in Business Conference: a unique opportunity to address big questions at the intersection of faith and work, promoting learning and fellowship among graduate business school students of faith. The conference will explore issues related to finding purpose and value in work drawing on Christian principles. This two-day event takes place in New York City on February 3-4, 2012.
- Teaching
We aim to bring leading keynote speakers and panelists that will bring a God-centered vision for how to tackle the large and small decisions in a business leader’s career. How do you discern God’s will in your career, or even in tough business decisions? Or to what degree is it appropriate to do so? Does God prefer a triple bottom line, or profit-maximization? Or what about othe topics such as work/life balance, setting wages, hiring and firing, balancing tasks and relationships with coworkers, pursuing short-term deadlines while keeping an eternal perspective, and honoring God with your personal wealth and business gifts outside the office? The topics and teaching are intended to bring Christ to the center of both major career decisions and daily business practice, and offer practical tools and advice for doing so.
- Relationships
Connect with MBAs from around the country who are also asking these questions and seeking to integrate their work with their Christian faith. Attendees will have ample opportunity to connect with folks in their same industry and geographic region, including small group discussions and industry-focused break-out sessions. We hope relationships and dialogues started at the conference will grow into life-long friendships that build a nationwide network of believers in business.
- Dialogue
This year’s conference seeks to be highly interactive, creating a compelling dialogue between keynotes, professionals, and students as the group tackles tough issues at the intersection of faith and work. The discussions that spill over into the lunch time, coffee breaks, meet & greet, and optional fellowship dinners are incredible opportunities to challenge each other to move to the next step in integrating our career goals with the eternal truths and deeper sense of purpose in each of our lives.
